The Consortium, established in 2003, is constantly engaged in the protection, enhancement and promotion of Salamini Italiani alla Cacciatora PDO.
The consortium members have a common uniform label (an immediately identifiable consortium badge) to facilitate recognition of the product by the consumer. The Consortium has the power to take action throughout the entire Salamini Italiani alla Cacciatora PDO production chain, even towards non-members of the Consortium. It has supervisory powers – with the aid of its own “vigilance agents” – in order to combat abuses, imitations, acts of piracy and counterfeiting throughout Italy and abroad.
It promotes programmes to improve the quality of production in terms of health and hygiene safety and the chemical, physical, organoleptic and nutritional characteristics of the protected product.
The Consortium was recognised by the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies in 2005, making it the officially accredited body for all information, protection and promotional activities concerning Salamini Italiani alla Cacciatora PDO.
